Basketball Cards

  6 Lots

Lot 120.  1969-72 ABA Pittsburgh Pipers and Condors Basketball Felt Pennants. The Pipers were a charter member of the American Basketball Association, which debuted in 1967-68. Led by league MVP Connie Hawkins, the team captured the ABA’s first championship. After spending 1968-69 in Minnesota, the Pipers returned to Pittsburgh for the 1969-70 season. The colorful 6” x 18” Pipers pennant is nm-m except for the clip at the tip. Based on a contest among Pittsburgh area residents, the owners renamed the team the Condors for the 1970-71 season. The team mascot and logo were redesigned for the 1971-2 season, which this scarce 9” x 23” pennant features. Ex+ with a few dark spots. Exceptionally hard-to-find pennants from Pitts-burgh’s professional basketball history.
