Lot 234. Autographs of 3 Boxing Heavyweight Champs - Dempsey, Louis and Tunney. Jack Dempsey signed a g postcard from his restaurant; 9 signature. Joe Louis’ signature, a 10, is on a 2 ¼” x 2 ½” irregular cut. Tunney signed a 2 ½” x 4” section of letterhead. His autograph grades 9-10. Louis’ autograph has become increasingly difficult to find. Lot 235. Autograph, Original 11" x 14" Portrait Painting of Heavyweight Champ Max Baer. Until sometime in the 1960s, this painting hung in a bar on Broadway Street in Denver. It has about half a dozen small chips. With some restoration, it would be a stunning, one-of-a-kind display item. Baer’s autograph is on a section of heavy paper. Above his name, he wrote: “To Meyer Shapiro (the bar owner). The one and only. We all love you. So take care of yourself. Your Bar Tender at the Clip Joint, Max Baer, 3-9-59.” The section of paper has a crease and some paper loss. The autograph is unaffected and rates an 8. Baer won the heavyweight title in 1934 and lost it in 1935 to Cin-derella Man Jim Braddock. Authen- ticated by Kevin Keating.

Lot 236. Photos Signed by Max Schmeling, Carmen Basilio, Others. Schmeling’s autograph is on an 8” x 10” b&w photo. His signature is very strong and slightly smudged. He dated the photo “1993.” He died in 2005. Basilio signed two photos, one 8” x 10” and the other, 4” x 6”. Joey Giardello’s personalized signatures are on identical 4” x 6” photos. The other photos are signed by: Angelo Dundee, two different 4” x 6” photos, one showing Ali; both signatures are personalized. Peter McNeely, identical 8” x 10” photos, one signed in gold, one in silver. Dana Rosenblatt, 8” x 10” photo. A total of 10 photos with signatures that are 10s. Authenticated by Kevin Keating.
